Biodegradable plastic and packaging is a modern necessity for our ever-endangered environment.  In response to this growing need many manufacturers are offering a variety of solutions.  Unfortunately, many of these proposed solutions are not always backed up by hard scientific data, particularly as provided by independent 3^rd party agencies. More importantly, several of these claimed biodegradable plastic packaging solutions can have an adverse affect on the intended shelf life and/or processability of the treated product.  Still others are too expensive to be cost effective

- What is EcoPure? -

 

EcoPure is our proprietary blend of organic materials that does not modify the base resin to which it is added. The latter retains all its original properties and shelf life.  EcoPure is melt-compounded into a masterbatch carrier resin, which is then pelletized.  EcoPure initiates and promotes soley a biodegradation process, and does so only in the presence of microorganisms such as are found in landfills and similar environments.

 

The EcoPure additive renders normally water-repellent polymers more hydrophillic attracting and promoting the intimate adhesion of the prerequisite biofilm.  The additive system then facilitates the growth of syntrophic colonies of diverse microorganisms that degrade hydrocarbon polymers through and enzymatically catalyzed oxidative process PP;PE) as well as by oxidative ring-opening (PS).

Our biodegradable plastics solutions, using EcoPure, are completely organic,
non-starch based and non-destructive to the environment. They are designed for polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and most other types of polymer. Our newest formulation, EcoPure G2, is designed for use with clear PET, in such applications as film and bottles. Bio-Tec Environmental's previous formulation was sold under the trade name Bio-Batch.  With further improvements and refinements, Bio-Batch has evolved into today's EcoPure.  EcoPure  is more cost effective with as little as a .7% load weight required. EcoPure is FDA compliant and has been proven not to leach. EcoPure can processed at up to 600F, which covers a wide range of polymers.  EcoPure G2 is also our new formulation for the PET industry.  It has the same approvals as EcoPure, but it is a clear form for the PET industry.
